One who stands on tiptoe
doesn't stand firm.

One who rushes ahead
doesn't go far.

One who tries to shine
dims their own light.

One who defines themself
can't know who they really are.

One who has power over others
can't empower themself.

One who clings to their work
will create nothing that endures.

If you want to live in accordance with the Tao,
just do your job, then let go.
